Held Here Sunday
Mrs. William Ahlke of Anadarko, a former resident of this community, died in the Anadarko hospital Friday at 2 p.m. of cancer. She had been ill 1 1/2 years and had been bedfast the last six months.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church here at 3 p.m. Sunday and conducted by Paul Fullerton, the pastor. Music ws furnished by Mrs. C.G. O'Connor, Miss Vera Dean McMahan, Miss Janice Elliott and C.H. Malone. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery with the Smith Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Dale Simmons, John Griffith, L.L. Dunlop, George Levite, C.M. Warner and Floyd Moore.
Mrs. Ahlke, whose maiden name was Mattie Saxon, was born at Savannah, Tenn. September 1, 1878. She came to Oklahoma in 1902, locating at Yukon, and came to Apache in 1907. This was her home until moving to Anadarko in January of this year. She was married to Wm. Ahlke in November of 1941. She was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving besides her husband are six sons by a former marriage, Alva and Albert Gill of Apache; Lonnie Gill of Haworth, Roy Gill of Broken Bow, Glen and Reuben Gill, address unknown; and four brothers, Henry Saxon of Oklahoma City; Bill and John Saxon of Broken Bow; and Mark Saxon of Sapulpa.
