Milo — Arrangements for Mamie Marie Anderson, age 79, are entrusted to Kirk Funeral Home. A Celebration of her life is Friday, April 18, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Jehovah Baptist Church in Milo.



Her final resting place will be in Cheek-Love Cemetery in the Cheek community. The Rev. Willie J. Tiller will officiate. Her brother, Bro. Reuben Anderson, will present her eulogy. Mamie was born in the Cheek community December 12, 1932, to Loss and Melinda (Gunn) Anderson.



The Anderson family worshipped at Sweet Canyon Baptist Church in Cheek where she was baptized at a young age. During the leadership of Rev. Willie J. Wallace, Mamie united by watch-care with Jehovah Baptist Church. A lifelong resident of Carter County, she attended school at Cheek before the transition into Central in Milo. Mamie devoted her life providing health care for her mother. A seamstress, her pastime was to quilt and embroidery. Family members will always remember her cooking skills, especially her delectable meat loaf.



With both brothers at her bedside, Mamie departed this mortal life Saturday, April 14, 2012, while a patient at Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Ardmore. Preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Betty Anderson, Katie Anderson, and Dorothy Anderson, she is survived by her twin brothers and their wives, Reuben and Arvella Anderson, Loss and Wilma Anderson, all of Ardmore; and many generations of relatives.



Honorary Bearers are Edward Abram, Samuel Pickens, Thomas Davenport and I.G. Godwin. Active Bearers are Jayme Anderson, Carlandus Knight, Steve Smith, Earl Shannon, Lewis Douglass and Alvin Dorsey. Flower Bearers are Glenda Gibson, Ruth Davenport, Dorothy Anderson, Pat Cohee, Anita Clark, Annette Anderson, Yolanda Anderson, and Lashonda Anderson.
