William Arndt, aka Charles William Arndt and Wm. Arndt, was born on June 15 1859 in the State of Missouri to German parents. Not much is known of William's early life before 1879 when he entered Indian Territory. The first documentation we find of him is his marriage to the widow, Jennie C. Jones, on 3 Oct 1881 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Charles William Arndt was listed as residence of Tobucksy County. Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. After Jennie died William then marries Mary Ellen Jones, Jennie's oldest daughter, on 19 December 1890 in McAlester, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory.
William settled in Tobucksy County, which was later changed to Pittsburg County when the Territory became the State of Oklahoma. Here William raised a large family; his children were Samuel, Myrtle, Fannie, William, Frederick, Aran, Joseph and Jerome. His family was enrolled as Choctaw citizens and he was considered an adopted citizen through his marriage to Mary Ellen. He was a prominent and well respected farmer/stockman in the area, active in civic affairs and a member of the local Masonic Lodge. The farm lands allotted to the family were about 6 miles west of McAlester near the community of Blue. He gave land for the use of the Blue school and community activities.
William died from complications due to the injuries caused by a fall. William's death was on April 1, 1943. He was 83 at the time.
