Born in White Chimney, Oklahoma, he was the son of Thomas William and Mary Elizabeth (Beasley) Akin. He married Elizabeth Middleton on Aug. 29, 1929 in Arpelar. He died in McAlester at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his wife, three sons, one brother and four sisters.
