Born in McAlester, he was the son of Walter H. & Beatrice Bea (Banks) Allen. He received the National Defense Service Medal (with one Bronze Star), Good Conduct Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal (with two Bronze Stars). He married Mayvis Blanche Priester Dec. 29, 1953 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a member of the D. A. V. Fleet Reserve, the Harrison Powers Post No. 79 American Legion, and the Robert B. Thomas Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post No. 1098. For over 20 years he owned Allen's Auto Sales. He passed away in McAlester at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, J.P. Strode, and a sister, Betty King.
