Walter L. Allbee, 93, of St. Paul, MN and formerly of Mellette, SD died Monday, April 11, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul.

His funeral will be Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Reverend Jon Damaska will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen at a later date. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Walter was born July 18, 1917 in Beebe, SD to Ralph and June (Ellis) Allbee. He married Alberta Arthurs in Ipswich, SD. He moved around South Dakota and worked various construction jobs. He helped on the Bill Arthurs farm for several years. He spent most of his working life in the Minneapolis-St Paul area building large commercial buildings.

Walter enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his children: Sandra Cordie of Roseville, MN; Judith Cullen of Tuscon, AZ; and Kenneth Mahoney of Sherwood, OR; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
