Katy resided most of her life in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She worked at the A&W, Woolworth's, Westerner and Millie's Café. She later moved with her husband Marvin Amsden and children to Osburn, Idaho where they resided from 1964 to 1972. They moved back to their roots in Aberdeen, South Dakota where Marvin did construction and Katy was his constant companion until his death in July 8, 2004.
Katy later moved to the Homestead and then later followed her daughter Christy and family to Bismarck, North Dakota. Katy was always known for having a pot of coffee ready. Whether it be the Schwan man, the neighbors, the medical personnel or just friends, they were all welcome.
Katy enjoyed Bingo at the Eagles, going for coffee, and playing Uno, cards, and board games with her grandchildren.
Katy is survived by Christy Gross, Pam Elliston, Carla Doney and Betty Gauer. She leaves nine grandchildren and several great grand children, as well as a brother, Julius Kolb.
Katy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Terry Lynn, two sisters and four brothers.
