Frances was born on July 8, 1923, the youngest of four daughters of Joseph Sylvester Haire and Eva (Folger) Haire. She was raised in Marshalltown, attended Franklin Elementary, and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1941. She worked briefly at Fred L. Ward Lumber, Nash Finch, and Fishers. On November 3, 1946, she married William Calvin Adkins in Altoona. Bill and Frances moved to the Gilman area in 1956, where they raised their five children. Frances moved back to Marshalltown in 1995, and she has been living at Embers since 2006.Frances and Bill were avid square dancers and were members of several square dancing clubs. She attended the Gilman Methodist Church while living there, and in recent years attended the Central Christian Church.Frances is survived by her three daughters, Joyce (Dale) Gericke and Patricia(Carroll) Krough of Montour; Kathleen(Larry) Angove of Traverse City, MI; and twin sons, Donald of Gilman and Daniel(Dana) of Horatio, AR; her grandchildren, Danielle Wesselman, David Krough, Scott Angove, Blake Angove, Jenna Edmiaston, Nicole Adkins, Kelli Adkins, and Mallery Adkins; her two great-grandchildren, Dylan Austin Wesselman and Ryley Jurgensen; her two sisters, Rachel(Paul) Williams of Marshalltown and Georgia Morris of Annapolis, Missouri; in-laws Mary Elsberry, Martha Hillman, Pat Adkins, and Joann Wall of Marshalltown, Shirley Adkins of Waco, TX, and Fred Holthusen of Texas City, TX; and a large number of nieces and nephews.In death, she has rejoined her husband Bill, who died in 1993; her parents; sister Mary Gooding; brothers-in-law Lloyd Gooding and Charles Morris; and in-laws Doris and James Cagwin, Max and Marjorie Adkins, Wayne Elsberry, Gwen and Dayle Wall, Ray Adkins, Deb Adkins, Adeline Holthusen, Tom Adkins, and Bud Wall.
