Clara Alexander 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Villa Del Sol Nursing and Rehab Center.
Clara Wilma Schultz was born on March 23, 1927, at home in McAllen, Texas, she was the daughter of William Schultz and Bessie (Louks) Schultz. They moved to Iowa when Clara was 5 years old and she attended school in the Ferguson school district graduating with the class of 1945 with the honor of Valedictorian. She then went on to attend North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On June 4, 1948, Clara was united in Marriage to Charles Hudson Alexander in Marshalltown where they resided their entire married life. Clara was a Homemaker, Mother and Grandmother and she excelled at all three. Clara and Charles were members of the Faith Assembly of God Church for over 65 years. Clara had a love of music and loved to play the piano, accordion, and sing. She was the church pianist in her younger years and the Sunday School Secretary for 30 years. She also loved to tend her flower gardens.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Charles, of Marshalltown; her children: Joyce (Gary) Blanchard of Marshalltown; Char (Marc) Riveland of Marshalltown; David (Denise) Alexander of Melbourne; and Jana (Dale) Meyer of Grundy Center; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; Clara's sister, Inez Alexander, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
In death, Clara rejoins her brothers: Elmer Schultz, Marvin (Ann) Schultz, Leonard Schultz; sisters: Grace (Frank) Seviere, Alice (Kenneth) Peterson, Irene (Merle) Weuve; brother-in-law, Joe Alexander; grandson, Gerald Dean Ellis; and great-grandson, Zachary James Reynolds.
Funeral services for Clara Alexander, 85, of Marshalltown, were held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at the Faith Assembly of God with Pastor Kerry Jech officiating.
She was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were T.J. Ellis, Andrew Bowers, Josh Riveland, David Alexander, Jr., Cody Meyer and Dalton Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers were Marc Riveland, Gary Blanchard, David Alexander, Dale Meyer, Dwayne Williams, Christian Meyer and Chris Blanchard.
Groups from the Faith Assembly of God, Villa del Sol, New Hope Christian Church and the Marshalltown Company were in attendance.
