Russell Allison Allen was born October 22, 1920, the son of Wilber and Irma (Hiersche) Allen in Sac City. He graduated in 1938 from the Brooke High School. On May 22, 1943, Russell married Kathleen Grashoff in Merced, CA. Russell served in the Army Air Corp during W.W.II where he flew the B 17 and the B 29 and later was a flight instructor. The couple came back to Aurelia after Russell was honorably discharged from the service and started farming, then they moved into town and opened Allen Plumbing and Russell became a master plumber. The couple then moved to San Marcos, Texas, where Russell was a flight instructor and a commercial pilot and later owned and operated an Enco Gas Station. In 1965 they moved back to Aurelia where they went back into farming until his retirement in 1976. While being retired Russell went back to his first love of being a flight instructor in Cherokee and Storm Lake. Russell was a member of the Grashoff-McManus American Legion Post 390 in Aurelia.
Preceding Russell in death were his parents; a son-in-law, Tom Stevenson; an infant grandson.
