Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Boyden at 1:30 P.M., April 4 for Alvin "Bob" Den Hartog, 59, of Boyden, who died April 1, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital after a brief illness.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Sylvester Moths and burial was in Newkirk Cemetery.
Mr. Den Hartog was born December 12, 1915, in Ocheyedan. He married Alvina Smit November 17, 1937, in Hospers.
He owned and operated Boyden Landscaping Co. for many years and also was employed at Smit and Son Packing Co. in Boyden as a meat cutter the past 15 years.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Sheila at home, and Mrs. Henry (Brenda) Van Der Brink of Boyden; two grandchildren, six sisters Mrs. John (Angeline) Zwagerman and Mrs. James (Wanda) Bruss, both of Hutchinson, Minn., Mrs. Jerome (Genevieve) Van Kooten of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. William (Luella) Grotenhuis of Hospers, Mrs. Bert (Alma) Van Kley of Allendorf, and Mrs. Roger (Wilma) Dekker of Salt Lake City, Utah; five brothers, Francis of Modesto, Calif., Richard of Holland, Mich., Howard of Bellflower, Calif., the Rev. Donald, Orland Park, Ill., and John of Hospers.
