Gerald Eugene "Gene" Evans,
age 64, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2010, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.


Mr. Evans was born March 10, 1946, in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Nelson and Katherine Lee Johnson Evans.


Gene was of the Church of God faith and was a self employed painter. He loved spending time with his family, friends, especially his grandchildren, and his pet dog Jasper.


Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Katie Messer Evans; one son, Darrell Evans of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jody Bradley of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Crystal and Mike Little of Morehead, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ashley Evans, Paige Evans, Allie Bradley, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Keshia Rissler of West Liberty, Kentucky; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Larry "Bo" and Shirley Evans of Mansfield, Ohio, Grady and Bessie Evans, Mike and Gay Evans, and Dan Evans, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joan Sturgill of Morehead, Kentucky, and Susie and Brent Fultz of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Bobby Day and Brother Clyde Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Masters Cemetery on Holly Fork Road in Rowan County, Kentucky.


Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, anytime Saturday, November 6, 2010, and until the service hour on Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.


Darrell Evans, Grady Evans, Brady Evans, Rodney Evans, Larry Wayne Knipp, and Rocky Kidd will serve as pallbearers. Dan Evans, Bo Evans, Mikie Evans, Jody Bradley, and Mike Little will serve as honorary pallbearers.
