Henry A. Ahnen, 65, Dies After Fall
Henry Arndt Ahnen, 65, Creston farmer, died Thursday at Greater Community hospital here from complications resulting from a fall eight days earlier. His death was at 2:15 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Methodist church in Fontanelle with Rev. Bruce Eshelman officiating. Burial will be in the Fontanelle cemetery. His body is at McGregor Brothers and Coens funeral home and will be taken to the home Sunday morning. A short prayer will be said at the home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Henry A. Ahnen was born at Fontanelle, May 10, 1885, and lived there until he moved to Prescott. He moved to a farm near Creston in 1948. He was the son of Henry and Dorothea Flinker Ahnen.
He was married at Corning, December 24, 1936, to Elsie Bennett Keesler, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Donald Ahnen of Creston and Elmer Keesler of New York City; two sisters, Lena Timmons of Whittier, Calif., and Marie Hyda of Fontanelle; and two brothers, Charles Ahnen of Bridgewater and George Ahnen of Spaulding.

Henry A. Ahnen
Henry Arndt Ahnen, son of Henry and Dorothea Flinker Ahnen was born near Fontanelle, Adair County, Iowa, on May 10, 1885 and departed this life at the Greater Community hospital, Creston, Iowa November 9, 1950 at the age of 65 years 5 months and 28 days.
The end came quite unexpectedly as a result of complications due to a fall 8 days earlier.
At an early age he was confirmed in the German Lutheran church of Fontanelle, Iowa, in the vicinity in which he grew to manhood.
On December 18th, 1910 he was united in marriage to Alice Mabel Pearson, who passed away Sept. 8, 1935.
On Dec. 24, 1935 he was united in marriage to Elsie Bennett Keesler who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Donald William Ahnen of Creston and Elmer LaVern Keesler of New York City, two daughters in law, and one grandson, Dennis Lee Ahnen, whom he enjoyed to the end. Two sisters, Mrs. Lena Timmons of Whittier, Calif. and Mrs. Mary Hyda of Fontanelle, Ia. Two brothers, Charles of Bridgewater and George of Creston, other relatives and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were two sisters and two brothers.
In 1918 he moved to the Prescott vicinity where he resided till two years ago when he moved to Creston.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. His cheerful smile and sunny disposition will be greatly missed by all his relatives and friends.
