FUNERAL MONDY FOR COUNTY JAILER
WRAY ALEXANDER DIED AT HAND HOSPITAL AT SHENANDOAH FRIDAY
Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian Church at Essex this Monday afternoon for Frederick Wray Alexander, 79, Page County Jailer, who died at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Friday afternoon.
Alexander was hospitalized following a heart attack week before last. He suffered a sever stroke Tuesday, from which he failed to rally.
He was born near Yorktown, February 27, 1882. For many years he farmed near Essex, operating a maintainer for the county for some time. He came to Clarinda to serve as county jailer after the death of his wife seven years ago.
Surviving are two children, Roy of Red Oak, and Mrs. Earl Brown of Shenandoah, two brothers, John of Gravity and George of Lemmon, South Dakota, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Hipster of Essex, sister-in-law of of Sheriff Ed Hipsley.
Interment was in the cemetery at Essex, beside the grave of his wife.
