Edna Marie Alt was born February 9, 1919, near Whittemore, Iowa, to Gustav and Anna (Meine) Haack. She was schooled at Lotts Creek and on April 14, 1938, was united in marriage to Harry Alt at Lotts Creek. Edna worked as a clerk for many years at Graham's Department Store as well as Chrischilles' store and Honsbruch Pharmacy in Algona.

Edna enjoyed quilting and working craft projects with her daughters but her favorite pastime was her vegetable and flower gardens. She was indeed The Queen of the garden and was a living example of the expression Bloom Where You Are Planted.. Edna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Edna died on Sunday evening, January 27, 2013 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 93.

Survivors include her daughters, Luanna and husband Ron Ditsworth of Algona, Karen and husband Dean Willrett of North Mankato, Minnesota; two granddaughters, Pam and husband Scott Narveson and Jean and husband Rodney Davis; two grandsons, Lonnie Willrett and wife Jackie and Rob Willrett and wife Megan as well as eight great grandchildren, Tayler, Christian, Justine, Cassie, Erich, Maria, Carmen and Benji and sister Alda and husband Bob Campbell of Kingman, AZ. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, one brother Walter and sisters, Louise Hainzinger, Alice Spear and Agnes Hantelman.
