Mary Louise Abbey, Virgil, Kan., died July 11, 2010, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. She was 81.

She was born May 2, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Girolomo and Mary Grace (Daura) Maspero. She was raised in San Antonio and graduated from local schools. After her schooling, she lived on the family farm and helped her mother around the house.

She married Leonard Abbey Feb. 18, 1967, at San Antonio, Texas. They lived throughout Texas as Leonard worked for different road crews. In 1977, they moved to Yates Center, and then in 2007, they moved to the farm near Virgil.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Yates Center.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard, of the home; two sons, Leonard Ray Abbey III, Tulsa, Okla., and Stuart Jerome Abbey, Cherokee; a daughter, Mary Irene Abbey, Yates Center; four grandchildren; five brothers, Albert, Richard, Arthur, David and Alfred Maspero, all of San Anonio, Texas; and one sister, Frances Maspero, San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
