OBITUARY - GLASCO SUN - GLASCO, KS
James W. Adams, 54, rural Concordia, died Monday in an accident on his farm about 11 miles south of Asherville in eastern Mitchell county. According to the Mitchell county Sheriff office, Mr. Adams was dead when ambulance and sheriff's officers arrived at his farm at 5:17 pm Monday. He had been run over by a tractor, while working alone in a field. The accident was discovered by neighbors. Officials believe Adams had been using a harrow in one field and was preparing to move to another field. The harrow apparently broke while Adams was trying to drive through a ditch and officials believe it hit both the tractor and Mr. Adams. He apparently got off the tractor, moved the harrow, got back on the tractor and them apparently fell off and was run over.

Mr. Adams was born April 9, 1929 in Lincoln county. He lived most of his life in Mitchell and Cloud counties. He was a farmer and civil engineer, and was a former Cloud county engineer. He was a member of the Baptist Church and Lions Club, Concordia; the Gideon Society and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship. He served on the board of directors of Sunset Home, Concordia. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean, of the home; three sons, Gary, Aurora, CO; William, Spokane, WA, and Richard of Houston, TX; two daughters, Mrs. Debby Hicks of Chickasha, OK and Miss Cindy Adams of the home, his mother Mrs. Frances Adams, Beloit; a brother, Walter Jr. of Beloit; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Cobine and Mrs. Martha Denney, both of Kansas City, MO and one grandchild. The funeral will be held at the Baptist Church, Concordia, Rev. Gary Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Milo cemetery, Barnard.
