Arlene Hornsby Aycock, 95, of Millington, former teacher and associate librarian at Memphis State University once cited for 42 years of service to education in Tennessee, died Wednesday at St. Francis Nursing Home.

Mrs. Aycock, daughter of the fifth person to serve as mayor of Millington, the late W. S. Hornsby, was the widow of Richard Aycock.

She taught elementary school in Millington for 19 years, served as Treadwell High School librarian for 10 years and was associate librarian at MSU for 13 years before retirement in 1965. She received a special award from the state for her service.

Mrs. Aycock was instrumental in the establishment of the first public library in Millington in 1955 by the Women's Club of Millington.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Millington, where she was a member for more than 75 years. Burial will be in Bethuel Cemetery near Kerrville, Tenn.

Munford Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include a brother, Dr. W. S. Hornsby of Lafayette, La.

The family asks that any memorials be sent the Williams-Aycock Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church in Millington.
