Ruby Ione (Thompson) Achenbach, 91, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Attica Long Term Care facility in Attica, Kan.
Mrs. Achenbach was born on a farm near Clay Center, Kan, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Wicklund) Thompson.
She attended a country school in the same area. She married Harry "Red" Achenbach on Oct. 2, 1945. They moved to Attica in 1956 where her husband worked in the oilfield and she was a homemaker. She was involved in many church, community, and school activities. When she was small she played the accordion and learned to pay the pump organ and piano by ear. She also sang in the church choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; two brothers, Emmitt and Melvin Thompson; sister, Olive Constable; and great grandson Trevor Morse.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Troyer, Connie Peetoom and husband Gary both of Attica, Kan., and Gloria Biby of McPherson, Kan.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at the Attica United Methodist Church with the Rev. Billie Blair officiating. Burial followed at Attica Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Ruby's name to the Attica Long Term Care or Attica United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
