Ricco P. Jake Asci, age 89, of Brockton, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of late Rita (Cutting-Barry) Asci for over 50 years. Jake was born in Brockton, a son of the late Sabatino and Angelina (Delgizzi) Asci and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He attended Brockton schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the African and European Theaters. Jake retired as a supervisor at the Pilgrim Power Plant. Previously, he was a Union Mason in the local area. He had been a member of the Wareham Elks and the Wampatuck Masonic Lodge in Hanson. Jake loved to spend his time with friends at his summer house in Plymouth and he also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy and Jaye Ann Barry, both of Brockton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the companion of Viola Packard of Brockton. Visiting hours will in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Thursday 5-8 p.m. Processional gathering at the funeral home Friday at 8 a.m. for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 9 a.m. Burial in Coweeset Cemetery.
