WATERBURY — William Vincent Accuosti, 85, of Highland Drive, passed away Saturday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Mass. He, his wife, Sue, and daughter, Susan, has recently resided in Hadley, Mass.
Born in Waterbury Sept. 5, 1926, he was the son of the late Vincent and Helen (DeRita) Accuosti. William attended the local schools in Waterbury, graduated from St. Thomas Seminary, and earned a masters degree from Fairfield University. He did post graduate work at the University of Connecticut and University of Bridgeport. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a school teacher in Waterbury for many years where he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
William was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved in religious study groups. He enjoyed music, reading, writing poetry and watching clouds.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (DiPalma) Accuosti; his daughters, Mary King and her husband, Mike, of Milford, Therese Drake and her husband, Bill, of Richmond, Mass., and Joan Accuosti and her husband, Terry, of Hadley, Mass., and Susan Accuosti of Waterbury; his brother, Kenneth Accuosti and his wife, Laura, of Prospect; his grandchildren, Thomas King and Kaylin Ligon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Spina, her husband, Joseph ,and his daughter Joan's first husband, Richard Ligon.
William's memorial funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 336 Elm St., Northampton, Mass. Burial will follow in Bridge Street Cemetery, Northampton. There are no calling hours.
