OBITUARY:

Kathleen L. Babcock, 74, passed away peacefully, January 13, 2005 at a Brewer healthcare facility. She was born in Hampden, February 9, 1930 the daughter of Lewis and Velma (Arey) Giles.

Kathleen grew up in Hampden and was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1948. She enjoyed flower gardening, going for rides on the coast and going to camp, but her true joy in life came from being with "her girls" and their families. She will be remembered as a loving mother who devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by her four daughters, Connie Marie Higgins of Hampden, Brenda Jeanne Brewer and her husband, Sam of Lake City, FL., Debra Ann Pare and her husband, Robert of Hampden, and Shelley Dawn Babcock of Hampden, three brothers, Lewis Jr., Bob and Frank Giles, three sisters, Florence Allbritton, Lucille Veinote and Shirley Cobb, eight grandchildren, Wendy Campbell, Paul Higgins, Lisa Higgins, Carrie Cohen, Krystal Pare, Adam Pare, Ashley Knowles and Dylan Knowles, three great grandchildren, Cassie, Hunter and Alex, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Giles and a sister Geneva LaChance.

A memorial service will be held 1 P.M., Thursday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, with the Rev. Dick Woehr officiating.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of service at 1P.M. Interment in the springtime will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
