Son of Thomas Adams, Sr. and Anna Jane Neal (1813 - ), both immigrants from Ireland to Canada

At the 1851 Canadian census he lived in Saint-Sylvestre, Lotbiniere, Canada East (Quebec). He was 12.

Born in Canada, he emigrated to the US in Feb 1855, settled in Augusta, Maine in 1866 and was naturalized there as a US citizen in Feb 1880.

He married Mary Jane Rollins (Bragg), as her second husband, on 4 Jun 1867 in Augusta, Maine. They had children:

. William Thomas Adams (1872 - 1953)
+ sp: Ida M. Cummings

In 1870 he lived in Vassalboro, Maine with his wife, 4 of her children from previous marriage, and their infant daughter, incorrectly listed as "James", age 1. He was a farmer.

In 1880 he lived in Augusta, Maine with wife, their 2 children, and her youngest son from previous marriage. He worked as a section hand on the railroad.

In 1900 he and his wife lived apart. He lived with his son William and family in Wilton, Maine while his wife was counted in the home of her son, Charles Bragg, and family in Augusta, Maine.

In 1910 he continued in the home of his son William and family, but they now lived in Winthrop, Maine.

He died of stomach cancer while visiting his daughter, Jennie Jones, in Boston. He was 77.
