Melvin "Fuzz" Ackerman, 41, Route 4, Monroe, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in St. Clare Hospital after an extended illiness. He was last hospitalized on Sept. 11. Mr. Ackerman had undergone lung surgery in August 1967, for a malignant condition.
He was born at Platteville Dec. 9, 1926, a son of Edward and Barbara Kraus Ackerman. He attended rural schools. On Dec. 26, 1946 he was married, in Brodhead, to Charlotte Jean Garde. They had since farmed on the present Monroe Township farm.
Mr. Ackerman was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Beatrice 15, Charmel 12, and Denise 10; his father, Edward Ackerman of Monroe; four brothers, Edward, Eau Claire; Harold and Lloyd, both of rural Monroe, and Lowell, North Hollywood, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Alvin Folts, Beloit; Mrs. Kurt Schadewaldt, Orfordville' Mrs. Walter Schults, Rewey, and Mrs. William Wood, Monroe. His mother died Jan. 22, 1961.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at Stuessy Funeral Home in Monroe and burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
