Mrs. John Campbell Who Came Here In 1855 Dies At Her Home At Circle Ridge

Sarah, widow of the late John Campbell, one of the last of those pioneers who came here in the early fifties, died at her home at Circle Ridge Monday morning following years of ill health and much suffering.

Mrs. Campbell had been ill for years since the death of her parents about a dozen years ago when she suffered a general breakdown. While at times her condition improved she was generally confined to her home. Since last December she kept to her bed.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home, Dr. G. F. Hilton officiating. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery, Clay Banks. The Eastern Star attended the services in a body.

Mrs. Campbell was born June 25, 1845, at Norwich, Conn., the daughter of W.H. and Eliza Warren. In 1855 she came to Door county and Dec. 30, 1865, was married to Mr. Campbell who died in October 1917. They had no children of their own but were the foster parents of three children: Sadie who married John Wickham and who died a few years ago; E.P. Campbell of this city, and Mary Darling, wife of J. E. Harris, of Milwaukee.

Mr. Harris was here to the funeral but Mrs. Harris was unable to be present owing to illness. L.E. Warren of Manitowoc was also here to the funeral.
