WHITEWATER — Ailie M. Boyle, 74, of Whitewater, WI, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville, Wisconsin. Ailie was born on Oct. 21, 1931, in Oulu, WI, daughter of Jaakko and Agda (Jarvio) Panula. Her parents both came from Finland to the United States. She married James "Speed" Boyle on July 15, 1948, in Iron River, WI. She was one of the first female school bus drivers in the state of Wisconsin, working for Nelson Bus Company in Whitewater. She worked for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for 22 years in the janitorial department, retiring as a laundress at the Williams Center. Most recently she worked part-time cleaning at The Sanctuary in Whitewater. She was President of the Christian Mother's Society, a member of the church choir and a reader for the church as well. She was also a member of the Finnish Family Society in Madison. She enjoyed listening and dancing to the Polka music of Jimmy Sturr and she was a "Days of Our Lives" fan for 40 years. Her greatest enjoyment in life were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Catherine and Christine Boyle, both of Whitewater; a son, Daniel J. Boyle of Milwaukee; nephews, Daniel S. Erdman of Janesville and Tyler J. Heth of Whitewater; and a brother, Sulo (Jean) Panula of Superior, WI, along with their family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Boyle; a brother, Tiovo Panula; and a sister, Aina Panula. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Whitewater, WI, with Thomas Suriano celebrating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Whitewater. The HARE FUNERAL HOME, best friends of the family, of New Lisbon, WI, is serving the family.
