Josiah Baker, who passed away at the home of his son, Seth Baker here Nov. 1, was buried at Bethel Monday afternoon with military honors. The funeral was in charge of the Abbotsford post of the American Legion. C. H. Luhrsen, Louis Kauffman, Joe Fleischman, Edward Hoeft, Harry Ketcham and Louis Weideman acted as pallbearers.

Baker, who served as a musician during the Civil War, was 101 years of age at the time of his death, which was caused by bronchial pneumonia.

A firing squad composed of Otto Sill, Lloyd Allman, Spencer Bockin, Morris Mantor, Harold Merwin, Ray Staples and Fred Wedeking, fired a salute and taps was sounded by William Wilde as a last tribute to the aged veteran. Orson Adams acted as color bearer.

Josiah Baker was born in Chautauque county, New York, Aug. 11, 1833. He came to Wisconsin at an early age and was married to Miss Elizabeth Bliss at Mauston in 1856.

On March 26, 1864 Mr. Baker enlisted in the Civil War as a musician under Capt. Henry Beldon in the 30th Regiment Co. C. W.I.V. and was honorably discharged from service at the Delaney House, D.C., July 27, 1865.

After the war he and his family moved to a farm near Loyal, Clark county where they lived until 1908 when they moved to Arpin. Mrs. Baker passed away there on Nov. 11, 1911 and in 1918 Mr. Baker went to live with his son Seth, with whom he lived until his death.

Fourteen children were born to the Bakers, nine of whom are living. They adopted one daughter.

Mr. Baker is survived by the following children: Elmer, of Arpin; Mrs. Byron Pedrick, Dancy; Mrs. Lizzie Lincoln, Monrovia, Calif.; Charles, Puyallup, Wash.; Newell, Menasha; Alvin, Bethel; Arthur, Marinesco, Mich.; William, Melrose; Seth, Abbotsford; and Mrs. Arthur Yeske, Tavera, Wis.

He leaves to mourn his death, ten children, 50 grand children, 102 great grand children and eight great great grand children.
