Birth: 1868
Death: Dec. 28, 1910

Samuel Bausman died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in his apartments in the Stillwell flats from the effects of an injury received a week ago. On Tuesday of last week Mr. Bausman, while shedding corn on Alvin C. Baker/s farm, the old George Ilgenfritz place, ten miles south of the city, had his right forearm terribly lacerated. The rollers of the shredder became clogged and Mr. Bausman attempted to remove the obstruction. His right hand was caught by the rollers and his arm was drawn between them. The flesh and muscles were torn into strips, but no bones were broken. He was brought to this city and it required two hours to dress the lacerated arm. Blood poisoning followed and was the cause of death. Mr. Bausman was 40 years old and was a bachelor. He was born and reared in this county and lived for years on the old Bausman home place at the Wildcat church. He spent all his live on the farm and owned some land. He leaves a number of brothers and sisters. Mr Bausman was a man of excellent character, industrious, honest and upright and was respected by all who knew him. The body was taken to Folckemer’s to be prepared for burial, but the funeral arrangements have not been made.
