Emory S Borum, only son of the late Mr and Mrs Mark Borum, died at the family residence two miles south of Odell, Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. Death was due to a cerebral abscess. He had been failing in health during the past year and underwent an operation at the Methodist hospital in Chicago in January. His condition, however, gradually grew worse and about a week ago he became critically ill.

He was born at the family home on may 4, 1884. After attending the schools of Jackson township he devoted his time to farming. He was a member of the Shawnee Mound Methodist church and took an active part in church work and also the affairs of the community.

He is survived by the following sisters: Mrs Junia B Roberts of Gary; Mrs Leona Knight of Indianapolis; Mrs Alpha Hollett of Chicago; Mrs John Hencke of Lafayette, and Helen and Ruth Borum who reside at the family home.

Funeral services will be conducted at the family residence at 10 o'clock Friday morning. Interment will be at Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Rev Pierce of Shawnee Mound will officiate. (Lafayette, Indiana Journal & Courier, Thursday Evening, July 7, 1927)
