Bernice "Sis" (Tucker) Adams, 94, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Morning Pointe of Franklin.

She was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Shelby County to Everett Edward Tucker and Naomi (Bennett) Tucker. She married Willis Franklin Adams. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1969.

She retired from the Wayne Township school district after serving several years as a custodian. She was a member of Bridgeport Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 513 in Indianapolis.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Lee Adams of Rockville; two granddaughters, Rhonda Jean Adams (Richard Hausman) and Shelly Kay (Adams) Chesser (James), both of Franklin; six great-grandchildren, Joseph Michael (Ashley) Adams of Green­wood, Erin Michele Adams of Brown County and Sheri Lee (Chad Smith) Adams, Dustin Wren Adams, Samantha Michelle Chesser and Lindsey Nicole Chesser, all of Franklin; three great-great-grandchildren, Alexis McKenzie Adams, Hailee Ann Robbins and Kameron Michael Adams; and many foster children, as she and her late husband were foster parents for more than 21 years.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean (Parton) Adams, on May 1, 2002; a grandson, Michael Lee Adams, on Jan. 19, 1990; and her parents.

The Rev. Larry McAdams will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Swartz Family Com­munity Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Glenns Valley, Greenwood.
