OBITUARY

Monday, October 19, 1964

Mrs. Helen ARTER, 75, Akron, who with her husband operated the Arter dime store in Akron for 37 years, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Woodlawn hospital of a coronary attack. Although she had been ill for a year, her death was unexpected. She was admitted to the hospital shortly before her death.

Mrs. Arter was married to Harvey ARTER in October, 1916. After his death in 1941, she continued operation of the dime store until she became ill about a year ago.

Born Sept. 13, 1889 in Akron, she was the daughter of Frederick and Laura STRONG STUDEBAKER and had resided in Akron all her life. Before her marriage, she taught elementary classes in Akron for several years. She was a member of the Akron Methodist church and was a charter member of the Pollyanna club.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) GRAY, Akron; a grandson, Philip GRAY; a nephew, and two nieces.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Haupert funeral home at Akron with the Revs. Wesley BULLIS and Claude FAWNS officiating. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
