Mrs. Anna Elizabeth ARTER, well known Akron resident died 5:15 p.m. Friday at her home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Arter had a host of friends throughout the eastern sections of the county. Born [Anna Elizabeth SMITH] December 5, 1870 in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of David and Mary SMITH. She was married to John ARTER on September 13, 1892 and all of her married life was spent in Akron. Her husband passed away May 27, 1940. Mrs. Arter was a member of the Evangelical church. Surviving are four children, Earl ARTER, Akron; Mrs. Ethel LARUE, Urbana, Ind., Ralph ARTER, Indianapolis; Mrs. Marie JUDD, Elkhart; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Ada SHANK, Barberton, Ohio and Mrs. Mary FLETCHER, Bucyrus, Ohio. A son, Harvey [ARTER], preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Arter home with Rev. D. L. SLAYBAUGH officiating. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery. The body will be removed from the Moyer-Haupert Funeral Home to the residence on Sunday morning.
