Gleanings from Here and There. Bodie Items.
Clarence Montrose came in from Lundy Wednesday evening with the word that Jack Dwier, a miner employed by the Crystal Lake Co. had dropped dead from heart failure while at work. The body is to be brought here (Bodie/ss) for burial.
*****
Appendix C, Composite Burial List, 2010 Management Plan Research (CSP): re: entry listed as Deyer, Mr.; Death Year-1908; Source-Bodie Fraternal Burial Association Minutes dated September 11, ?1908; Burial cost $75; Buried Miners’ Union section (NOTE: Suggest that this is the same as Jack Dwier, mentioned in the above news article./ss)
*****
Note: A Jack or John Dwier not found on the California Death Index. Using alternate spellings of Dwyer, Dwire and Dweir, no death was listed. In reviewing census for this person, there is a strong suspicion he was the son of James and Norah Dwyer who were at Virginia City, Nevada in the 1880 census. Difficult to verify this lacking any genealogical postings on the internet.
