Leslie A. Baptista Sr., 85, of Hilmar died Saturday at Brandel Manor of Emanuel Medical Center, Turlock.
Mr. Baptista was a native of Turlock. He had lived in the Hilmar and Stevinson area since 1928. He was a dairyman. He was a member and a former chief of the Stevinson Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of St.Mary's Catholic Church, as well as SES.
He is survived by his wife, Viola; children, Les Jr. and Lewis Baptista, Linda Oliveira and Lorraine Frontella; a brother, Tony B. Silva; a sister, Rose Machado; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Mortuary. A Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stevinson. Private burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 PM Tuesday at the mortuary.
