MRS. NELS P. JENSEN DIES AT RAND HOME
EAST ORTON - Funeral rites for Mrs. Nels P. Jensen who died Tuesday last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Matt Rand, were held Saturday at the home. Burial was in the Beaver Creek cemetery in Lyons township. Mrs. Jensen was 70 years old. She had been ill for a month.
She was formerly Catherine Karn and was born in LeSueur county June 15, 1869, She came to this community in 1898, a widow with six children. In 1905 she married Nels P. Jensen of Ansel township. Surviving her are Mr. Jensen and four of her children, Mrs. Rand of Ansel township, and Frank, Gaylord and Elmer Olson all of Lyons township.
Rev. Turnbull of Oylen conducted the service. Pallbearers were George Hazen of Akeley, Ben Kleen, Lou Farnum, S.W. Johnson, Ed Faxon and E.A. Johnson.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers of Clam Falls, Wis., former neighbors of the Jensens, attended the funeral.

Funeral Was Held For Mrs. Nels P. Jensen - Had Lived In Ansel Twp., Cass County, Since 1898
Mrs. Nels P. Jensen died of a stroke at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Matt Rand, in Ansel township, Cass county, on Tuesday, July 11. She had been ill a month in a hospital in Fergus Falls and had spent ten days after that at her daughter's home.
Mrs. Jensen, (Catherine Karn) daughter of Gottlieb Karn, was born in LeSueur county, Minnesota, on June 15, 1869. She moved to Cass county, Minnesota in 1898, bringing her family of six children by a former marriage. In 1905 she married Nels P. Jensen of Ansel township. To this marriage was born one daughter, who died at birth. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Nels P. Jensen, and four children, Frank and Gaylord Olson and Mrs. Matt Rand, of Ansel, and Elmer Olson, of Lyons, and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Jensen home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. John Turnbull of Oylen conducting the services. Burial was made in the Beaver Creek cemetery in Lyons township. Mr. Frank Newman sang appropriate hymns and a large number of friends and neighbors attended to pay their last respects to a highly esteemed friend and pioneer. The pallbearers were George Hazen of Akeley, Ben Kleen, Lou Farnum, E.S. Johnson, Ed Faxon and E.A. Johnson.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers, old neighbors of the Jensen family, from Clam Falls, Wis., were among those who attended the funeral.
