The funeral service for Kenneth Duane Booen of Hewitt, MN and Deer Creek, MN will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Community Center in Hewitt, MN. Friends may call at the Community Center on Tuesday from noon until the time of service. Ken passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Altoona, IA from advanced stages of Alzheimers.

Kenneth Duane Booen was born to James and Mabel (Krenz) Booen on September 1, 1930 in Woodside Township, Todd County, MN. Ken and Beverly Jane Walker were united in marriage on April 19, 1952 in Hewitt, MN. Ken worked as a plant manager for Mid America Dairyman for over 40 years serving in Bertha, MN, Corning, MN and Des Moines, IA. He also worked many years delivering cars for Mid States Auto Auction out of New York Mills, MN. Ken found great joy in gardening, hunting, fishing and dancing.

Ken is survived by his wife of 61 years Beverly Jane Booen of Altoona, IA; daughters Kathryn Buker, Albert Lea, MN, Deanna (Robert) Mullenbach, Austin, MN, Bonnie (Roger) Stuart, Altoona, IA, Connie (Clay) Willey of Pleasant Hills, IA, Susan (Robert) Hopkins, West Des Moines, IA; sons Michael (April) Booen of Underwood, MN and Gary (Karen) Booen of St Cloud, MN; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard Booen, Donald Booen and Lyle Booen; sisters Shirley Zuehlke, Avis Robbin, Gloria Martin, Nora Booen, Dorothy Hofferbert and Lois Lynch; brother-in-law Larry Walker and sisters-in-laws Josephine Fern and Sandra South.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents James and Mabel Booen; in-laws Leo and Wilma Walker; brothers Lloyd Booen and Robert Booen; sister Norma Zuelhke; son-in-law Dennis Buker, granddaughter Farrah Buker; great-grandson Jonathan Hoffmann; sisters-in-law Phyllis Branstner and Glenice Buschke; and brothers-in-law Howard Branstner and Wilmar Buschke.
