The funeral service for Sylvia E Adler will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, MN with Pastor John Fuchs officiating. Burial will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, MN.

Mrs. Adler, 87, of Hammond, MN died Tuesday evening, February 15, 2011 at the Lake City Medical Center – Mayo Health System Hospital in Lake City, MN.

Sylvia Elizabeth Mickow was born October 12, 1923 in Farmington Township, Olmsted County, MN to Peter and Dorthea (Siems) Mickow. She attended rural Olmsted County School. On October 3, 1942 she married LeRoy Adler at Bremen in rural Millville, MN; he died December 12, 2005. In 1952 Sylvia had polio and spent six months at Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis, MN. LeRoy and Sylvia farmed in the Pilot Mound, Pine Island and Potsdam areas moving to Hammond in 1973. Sylvia enjoyed cooking, canning, watching the birds, playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and conversations about her life stories. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hammond, MN.

Sylvia is survived by two sons, Merlin (Beatta) Adler of Hammond, MN and Michael (Janell) Adler of Millville, MN; two daughters, Mary (Raymond) Paddock of Plainview, MN and Virginia (Mark) Hassler of Pine Island, MN; one daughter-in-law, Donette Adler of Mazeppa, MN; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Doris Mickow of Rochester, MN; one brother-in-law, Casper Eggler of Stewartville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Verl, 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, MN and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday.
