Doris Constance Wilson was born on December 15, 1920, the daughter of Benjamin and Selma (Severts) Wilson in Olmsted County, on a farm in the Rock Dell area. She attended rural country schools for her elementary education and graduated from Hayfield High School. On August 3, 1940, she married Kenneth (Bud) W. Doris was a homemaker during the early years when her daughters were young, then worked with her husband at the Farmers Co-op Oil in Hayfield, as the bookkeeper. From 1959-1974, she worked at the Hayfield Medical Clinic as an office nurse for Dr. Harold Elliott. It was during this time that she started her nursing career and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. When the Hayfield Medical Clinic closed in 1974, she began work at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield. She retired from the Care Center in 1986. Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Joy/Patience Circle and WELCA; a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and member of the volunteer Auxiliary at Field Crest Care Center. She enjoyed baking, growing flowers, and socializing with friends and family. Her Norwegian Heritage was of special importance to her. She and Bud traveled both in the USA and overseas, mostly to meet and visit relatives.
