Fred was the son of Johannes Götz and Christina Obenauer.

He had nine siblings: Gottfried, Balthasar, Christian, Johannes, Israel, Emilie, Edward, Alois, and Herbert.

Fred married Tilda Amanda Tollefson on January 25, 1943. They later divorced.

Fred Golz, 73, Clearbrook, died May 18, at the Clearwater Memorial Hospital in Bagley.
Services were held Saturday at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel in Clearbrook. The Rev. William Fehr officiated with burial in the Elim Cemetery under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home.
Mr. Golz was born March 26, 1905 in Eureka, South Dakota, and moved to Clearwater County in 1937 and lived in the Bagley area until 1963, when he moved to Clearbrook.
He is survived by two sisters, Emile Spitzer of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Alois Golz, Ellendale, North Dakota.
