LITTLE FALLS — Lawrence "Larry" Houle, age 89, of Little Falls, Minn., passed away Feb. 14, 2012, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life from 4 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 16 and from 9 to 10:20 a.m. on Feb. 17 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. Parish Prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will conduct the Office for the Dead at 7:30 p.m.
Larry Houle was born on Dec. 2, 1922, to Adelor and Marie Houle. On Feb. 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dolores Colombe. For 31 years, Larry was a District Supervisor for the Star Tribune. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Little Falls Kiwanis Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores. Together they raised seven children, Trish Gripp, of Brainerd, Ron (Dar) Houle, of Merrifield, Tom (Pat) Houle, of Springfield, Mo., Deb Hanghian (Dennis Jasper), of Bettendorf, Iowa, Rick Houle, of Little Falls, Tim Houle, of Little Falls, and Becky Houle (Don Erkens), of Sartell; along with 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Larry is survived by his brother, Wallace (Anne) Houle. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Clarice Welle, Irene Fogel and Lucille Rakow.
Larry was a devout Catholic and a strong family man who dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a gentle soul who exemplified the spirit of Christianity. Larry's greatest joy was creating treasured memories with his family and friends.
The Houle family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Greg McNamara and the extraordinary staff at the St. Otto's Care Center for their gentle, loving and outstanding care of Larry.
Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
