Alice Hulda (Mrs. Fritz) Anderson, 85 of Hoffman, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at the Hoffman Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Jan. 5, 1916, in Delaware Township in Grant County to Arthur and Rose (DeVries) Kloos. She grew up there and attended school in Delaware Township and Herman High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Church. She was employed at the Brit Kloos home when she met Roseville Township's most eligible bachelor, Fritz Anderson. The couple were married in Elbow Lake on March 18, 1936. They made their home on the Anderson family farm in Roseville and there raised their eight children. They moved into the North Start Manor Hoffman in 1969, after they retired. In 1998, they moved to the Hoffman Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran and later Messiah Lutheran at Hoffman. She had a zest for life and enjoyed dancing and playing whist. She loved to garden and always had a big vegetable garden for her growing family and a flower garden just for her. She was a busy farm-wife and mother. She belonged to the Roseville Homemakers Club and the Helping Hands Social Club (Helpmate Club). When she moved to town, she finally found time to do fancy work, read, help out at the Senior Citizens, and play more whist. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her life's focus and she knew and was interested in what each was doing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son and daughter-in-law Milton and Gloria Anderson; and great-granddaughter Alyssa Paul.

She is survived by her husband, Fritz of Hoffman; seven children, David (Linda), Dennis (Janice), Joyce (Kenny) Elrite, Belinda (Denny) Schiferl, Ted (Marse), Marilyn (Dean) Olhoft, and Janet Nelson; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers Lawrence "Lornie" Arend Kloos and Leonard "Bud" (Sally) Kloos; sister Doris (Jim) Weinreis; two nieces and two nephews; and many relatives and friends.
