Death: Mar. 17, 2008

Lauren Grace Baird, 20, passed away suddenly and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on March 17, 2008.

Lauren was born in Reno, Nev., on July 10, 1987. She lived in Lovelock, Nev., for nearly 15 years, where she enjoyed horses, raising 4-H lambs, singing, dancing, fishing, soccer and hunting with her dad. Lauren moved to Fairbanks with her parents and brother in July 2002. She attended West Valley High School and later graduated in 2006 from Career Education Center.

For the last year, she had been enrolled in the safety certification program through Tanana Valley Campus.
Lauren's employment history was as diverse and creative as her personality. At the time of her death, she was happily working as a cashier at the Safeway store in University Plaza.

Lauren truly loved being with her family and friends, writing poetry, listening to music, watching a ton of movies and DVDs, looking at the northern lights, updating her MySpace page and being with her family dog, Chester.
She also enjoyed spontaneous road trips, ice skating, tasty food, being with little kids and the elderly and, of course, shopping. All who knew her were blessed by her extreme generosity, openness and uninhibited love. She was a master of hugs.

Lauren was a member of University Baptist Church in Fairbanks.

Lauren was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles R. Buck; her great-grandfathers, Arthur Garrett and Jake Baird; and her great-grandmother, Louise Baird.

Surviving family members include her parents Clay and Linda Baird and brother Jake Baird, all of Fairbanks; great-grandmother, Mary Garrett, grandmothers, Polly Buck and Jeanne Reed, grandfather, Smokey Baird, her Uncle Rocky, Tante and Uncle Chuck, all of Nevada; and many dearly loved cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

Services will be Friday, March 2l, with a visitation at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at noon. Pastor Gary Cox will be presiding. The family would like to invite all friends and relatives to attend this celebration of her life. There will be a time of fellowship and reflection immediately following the service, also at the church.

She will be laid to rest in May at Northern Lights Memorial Park.

Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home and Crematory.
