Foster-Abbatt [sic] {Abbott} Nuptials Held Yesterday - Miss Martha K. FOSTER became the bride yesterday of Samuel L. ABBOTT, Jr., a young businessman of San Francisco, at a pretty but quiet ceremony at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Foster. The bride's sister, Miss Louisana (sic) Foster, and Edward Eyre, a close friend of Mr. Abbott, attended the young couple as bridesmaid and groomsman. The floral decorations were simple but beautiful. The Rev. Lynn T. White and the Rev. F. W. Clampett, the latter of San Francisco, were the officiating clergymen. Following the ceremony the guests few in number and including but the relatives and closest friends, partook of the wedding dinner, after which the couple left for San Francisco, their future home. Mr. Abbott is the son of S. L. Abbott, vice-president of the Security Savings Bank of San Francisco, and is employed by Maillard & Schmeidell, prominent commission brokers of San Francisco.
OBIT: SAMUEL ABBOTT SR. - Samuel Leonard Abbott Sr., founder of a San Francisco chemical firm and active in Bay Area business and social affairs for many years, died at his ranch home in Sonoma yesterday. He was 72. He leaves his wife, the former Martha Kittle Foster, a native of San Rafael and member of a pioneer Marin County family. Abbott, a native of San Francisco, founded the S. L. Abbott Co. in 1931. He turned operation of the firm over to his son, Samuel L. Abbott Jr., who died last year. He attended Mount Tamalpais Military Academy in San Rafael and University of California at Berkeley. In recent years he raised Hereford cattle on his Sonoma ranch, the Flying Arrow. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. W. D. Scott Lawler of Chico and Mrs. Thomas Leaver of Oakland; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Trinity Episcopal Church, Sonoma.
