EMILY GREENWALD, 72, of 935 The Terrace, Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born May 8, 1939, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Esther Goodman.
She was a graduate of Bardstown (Ky.) High School and attended Hagerstown Community College and Stevens College in Columbia, Mo.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Greenwald; son, Kevin Horowitz of Birdsboro, Pa.; three stepsons, Gary and Alan Greenwald of Hagerstown and Steve Greenwald of Tampa, Fla.; seven stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
In her younger years, she worked for WBAL Radio in Baltimore as their music librarian and for Interstate Record Distributors in Hagerstown.
She was a Kentucky Colonel and was co-chairman of the first Evening With Nick. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Abraham and a member of Fountain Head Country Club. She had a great love for Kentucky and Kentucky basketball. She attended 24 consecutive Final Fours as well as traveled with the team to Hawaii and twice to Alaska.
A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at B'nai Abraham Cemetery, 17520 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown. Rabbi Fred Raskind will conduct the service.
