LAVALE,MARYLAND -- Constance Helsel Beachy, 73, of LaVale, formerly of Swanton, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Sept. 19, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lillian (Dando) Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Reed Beachy, on Sept. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Beachy was a clerk for the California Department of Motor Vehicles and volunteered her time at the Grantsville Museum, the Frostburg Museum and the Allegany Courthouse Archives. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Grantsville Historical Society.
She is survived by a son, Christopher Reed Beachy and wife Kathrine, of Gambrills; a daughter, Dawn Payment and husband Merv, of Silverdale, Wash.; six grandchildren, Seth Payment, Ezra Payment and wife Tomisha, Sarah Beth Beachy, Rebekah Leola Beachy, Jason Beachy and wife Latisha and Jennifer Anne Beachy; and three great-granddaughters, Kayla Marie Beachy, Brynn Sophia Beachy and Anna Grace Payment.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, from 8 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randolf Richardson officiating.
Interment will be in the Bittinger Cemetery.
