"Bellows was a miner in the Ida Camp in the edge of the Inyos east of George's Creek. He and his partner had built a water line from the spring to their cabin, but the Indians had dug up the line, lead pipe, and used it for bullets. Bellows, a young man from New York, went to the spring for water, and thus his life ended on the trail, far from his native state."

From "The Boys In The Sky Blue Pants" - story of Camp Independence
