Obituary: Merced Sun-Star, May 16, 1972

Services will be held in the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn Saturday at 10 a.m. for Harold Leroy Gassaway, 56, who died Saturday of an apparent heart attack while visiting his son, Donald Gassaway, and family in
Florence, S. C. He had gone to Florence a week ago.

Mr. Gassaway was born in Los Angeles and came to Le Grand in 1935. He resided in that community and in Merced since then. He was employed by the Merced Mosquito Abatement District in 1954. He retired in 1970.

Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nadine Gassaway, 148 E. 23rd St.; and two grandsons.

Burial will be in the Turner-Helm Cemetery in Le Grand.

The family would appreciate memorial contributions be given to the California Heart Association.
