Orland Register, Saturday, 14 August 1915:
YOUNG EMORT BOY PASSES AWAY
Joseph Emort, the fifteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Emort who live just west of town, passed away yesterday shortly after eleven o'clock after six weeks' illness. The young boy injured himself about the first of July in attempting to lift a hay rack. The injury left him with a weak heart and he had been in a serious condition up to the time of his death. Little hope for his recovery had been held out for the past ten days.
The boy leaves beside his mother and father to mourn his loss, four brothers, Charles, Herman, Frank and William, and three sisters, Mary, Kate and Agnes. Two of the sisters, Mary and Kate, live in Oregon. All of the brothers are home except Herman who is also in Oregon. The Emorts came here from Oregon about three years ago and settled on a fine tract of land west of town.
The funeral services will be held at three o'clock this afternoon from the local Catholic church. - Transcribed by E.
