son of Robert Boice (b.1778 PA, d.Harrison Co.,WV) and Mary Elizabeth Ashcraft; married his second wife, Levina Bunner, on April 13, 1848 in Harrison County; two daughters of the first marriage appear in the 1850 census as Elizabeth and Melvina; in 1900 Levina reported having seven children, five living; names of the children found in the 1850 and 1860 census records were: Matilda, Thomas, David, Mary E., William R., and Lydia Boice
