He served in the "Hardy Blues" 1st Company H, 25th Virginia Cavalry, and then as a Pvt, in 2nd Co. B (D), 62nd Va. Mounted Infantry (Post War Roster).

He filed and was granted a divorce in Sep 1869 and was granted custody of their son Harrison.
